On Friday, November 7, Saint Columbkille Partnership School will gather as a community to observe Veterans Day. This year, we are honored to recognize United States Army First Lieutenant Tom Tully, Class of 1960. Mr. Tully served in Korea during the Vietnam War and is a proud alumnus of both Saint Columbkille and Boston College, where he participated in ROTC.
Mr. Tully is known for his warmth, humility, and steadfast commitment to service. He often speaks about the profound impact his Catholic education had on his formation, shaping his character, guiding him during his military service, and influencing his life’s work. For the past 30 years, he has also served as a member of the security team at Fenway Park. If you find yourself at a Red Sox game in the future, you may see him welcoming fans at the 20 Jersey Street entrance.
The Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. at St. Columbkille Parish. The event will include musical performances by our school chorus and a reflection offered by a fifth-grade student speaker. We will also present a donation to Brighton Marine, a local organization that provides housing, health services, and support to veterans and their families in the Greater Boston area. The funds were raised during our October Spirit Day, when students were invited to dress out of uniform in exchange for a donation of $1 or more to support local veterans.
We will honor all branches of the United States Armed Forces. Parents, guardians, alumni, and family members who are active-duty service members or veterans are warmly invited to participate in uniform. All members of our community are welcome to join us for this meaningful celebration. If you are a veteran planning to march in the ceremony, please click here to RSVP.
