Grade 4 Students Visit BC "Saints" Art Exhibit

Each year, Grade 4 students dress up as their favorite saints on All Saints Day, which is November 1. They participate in the all-school Mass at St. Columbkille Church and share information about the saint they chose.

Additionally, these students participated in the opening day of an art exhibit at BC called "Saints" by artist Nancy Marek Cote.

"The students LOVED the artwork," says Grade 4 teacher Ms. Kunkle. "The Roche Center gave the students a worksheet that guided them on a scavenger hunt of the paintings, and they had a blast running around and solving it."

Some of the students had dressed as the Saints in the paintings, which meant a lot to them to see the people they had worked so hard learning about. The Saints Project has long been a tradition of St. Columbkille 4th graders dressing up as Saints and giving speeches, but this year was so interactive and engaging thanks to the Boston College field trip.

The students also loved meeting the artist, Nancy Marek Cote. Following the field trip, one student remarked that their favorite part of the day was listening to the artist's process and hearing about the different stages of the painting.

Further, students got a chance to see the statue of St. Ignatius on BC's campus.
