4Boston at STCPS

Since Saint Columbkille was re-established as a partnership school in 2006, the community has seen firsthand how the contributions of Boston College have enhanced the school, and made it possible for us to better serve our students.

The contributions of Boston College go much deeper than improvements to the school building. BC students commit to our students, and have added a very human element to the partnership.

Each year, around 30 BC undergraduate students volunteer at STCPS through the BC Campus Ministry 4Boston organization. Four days each week, 4Boston volunteers facilitate clubs, tutor students, act as mentors, and in a very meaningful way they embody the “partner” in “partnership."

The 4Boston organization chooses a theme for their service each year, and, recently, the theme was based on a prayer inspired by Bishop Oscar Romero:

We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.

4Boston continues to nurture all of our little “seeds” at Saint Columbkille. We look forward to each year's collaboration with such an amazing group of college students.
