Visual Art

As part of the Saint Columbkille Partnership School curriculum, students in pre-K through grade 8 create artwork focused on technique, art history, and their own creative imagination. Students are exposed to a variety of art media: painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, printing, and the study of art history. Students have the opportunity to explore 3D art, using weaving, paper mache, as well as paper and clay sculpture.

Recently, a generous benefactor of Saint Columbkille donated funds to purchase a kiln that has allowed art classes to mold, glaze and fire clay sculptures. Set up in a dedicated art room, the kiln is one of the few available to elementary and middle school students in Boston. The first ceramics project, a beautiful and unique set of chameleons, was completed by grade 8 art students.
