2025 Summer Assignments
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to share our plans for summer work. Our goal is to prevent the “summer slide,” the learning loss that can occur when students are away from the classroom for an extended period. In the past, we have sent home workbooks, but our faculty has not seen those materials lead to the kind of growth we hope for. This year, our teachers reviewed research on what truly makes the greatest impact on student learning - and one practice stood out: reading! Just 20 minutes of reading - or being read to - each day can make a meaningful difference. Therefore, this summer, our students’ main assignment will be to read. Please see the PDF documents below for more specific guidance from their homeroom teachers on their summer reading expectations. And when we return in the fall, we’ll celebrate our students’ efforts with a special Reading Celebration Day!
